This was worth waiting for! Loved James Rollins’ new Sigma Force novel and all of the characters he brought together in the book。 It had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end。 This is a must read!

I have enjoyed James Rollins books for years now, and this one is no different。 The characters we know and love are here。 The high adventure, the science, and the travel is here。 Even though this one is number 16, fans of adventure novels unfamiliar with the series can read this mostly self contained story and not be lost。 I received my copy for free this time through a Goodreads giveaway, which is greatly appreciated!

A little too brutal for my taste, unable to finish the book。

I received an advanced copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway。 I was so excited to get it, and I wasn't disappointed。 The timely novel follows the advent of a new virus that first appears in the Congo in Africa。 The virus is somewhat unique in that it affects different species in different ways。 In certain animals, such as ants, bats, and baboons, it manifests in angry, aggressive behavior while in humans, it causes depression and stupor, seeming to numb or paralyze parts of the body。The nove I received an advanced copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway。 I was so excited to get it, and I wasn't disappointed。 The timely novel follows the advent of a new virus that first appears in the Congo in Africa。 The virus is somewhat unique in that it affects different species in different ways。 In certain animals, such as ants, bats, and baboons, it manifests in angry, aggressive behavior while in humans, it causes depression and stupor, seeming to numb or paralyze parts of the body。The novel also travels back and forth in time to give the reader glimpses of the history of the Congo, including historical figures, as well as mythical figures, from the Congo's past。Once again, Painter, Gray, Monk, and Kowalski become involved in the search for the origin of the virus and a possible cure。 They are joined by veterinarian/virologist Frank Whitaker, doctors Jameson and Charlotte, and rejoined by Captain Tucker Wayne and his partner/warrior dog Kane。 The group must battle evil billionaires out to gain glory for themselves by experimenting on victims of the virus in hopes of getting credit for finding a cure。 The group also must battle Mother Nature herself in an effort to find answers to their questions。 Some of the terminology/explanation of viruses gets a bit technical, and there is a great deal of description of the jungle itself, but the novel is full of action and suspense。 The ride is well worth your time。 。。。more
